Giacomo Matteotti, a History of Everyone
In the year of the celebrations for the centenary of the death of Giacomo Matteotti, a native of Fratta Polesine, there are numerous initiatives dedicated to his commemoration in his home territory as well.
Don't miss the exhibition 'Giacomo Matteotti, una Storia di Tutti' (Giacomo Matteotti, Everyone's Story), which can be visited at Palazzo Roncale until 7 July. An opportunity to get to know the figure of the young deputy Giacomo Matteotti, recounted in his native Polesine in an itinerary of images that render, a century later, the story of a free man.
A local hero, a public administrator in various localities in the Rovigo area, involved in trade union activity in leagues and cooperatives, as well as in parliamentary activity, as an irreducible opponent of fascism and finally secretary of the Unitary Socialist Party. The story of a man who left his mark on Italy in the early years of the 20th century, with an exhibition that offers, for the first time to the general public, a selection of important documents from the State Archives of Polesine's capital city, to learn more about this figure.
This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity not only to learn more about the history of this important Italian politician and man, but also to spend a few days' holiday visiting the theatre and discovering the historical and artistic heritage of Rovigo and the many villages not far away, where you can find palatial villas, museums large and small, and sacred places, without forgetting nature and the flavours of land and water that the 'Land between the Adige and Po' knows how to offer with taste and spirit.
